HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT?
In the fall 10 years.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO COME TO CROSSFIT? WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?
I love the challenge of CrossFit with always something to work on and improve. I'm motivated to keep coming to maintain my fitness level, always improve/challenge myself, but now be an example to my children of lifelong fitness and working hard. I truly love coming to the gym, being with like minded fitness people who get it, gets my family out of the house, and gets those endorphins flowing to help manage my mental health and the lows.
Goals:
Improve my strength and get back to lifting some PR's I've previously set before having kids and beat them - do a marathon (have had to setback this goal and not sure when I will have the time to train, but on my fitness bucket list).
WHAT DOES CROSSFIT MEAN TO YOU?
CrossFit has meant so many different things to me in my life and has changed throughout the many years. At first it was a way to continue working on my fitness and challenge myself after a life of playing sports. Then I fell in love with the variety of movement and skills, and always something to improve and work on. Now crossfit is the one thing I consistently do for myself as being a mother. Its truly so special to be able to bring my kids with me to this family friendly gym, people interacting and loving my kids, while getting a good workout in. CrossFit has not only been an amazing place to be able to be competitive again, while challenging my physical fitness and limits, but its such a social outlet for me and my kids and helps my mental health.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF WORKOUTS IN CROSSFIT?
Handstand walking and bar muscle ups.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
I love how CrossFit has always given me a base fitness level so I can go out and do other fun adventures and activities like snowboarding, mountain biking, and do races like triathlons. Ability to lift heavy functional things when needed in life.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JOINING CROSSFIT KAKOU?
Everyone starts somewhere. There are so many movements to crossfit some will be your strength while others won't be and this may change as you keep working on things. Try not to compare yourself to others abilities and focus on your journey. It takes time to get all the movements, but its so fun to see your progress, just keep showing up.
