HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT?

I started coming 1-2 days a week about a year ago. This last summer I decided I needed to dedicate more time if I wanted to see results so I starting coming 4-5 days a week.


WHAT MOTIVATES YOU TO COME TO CROSSFIT? WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS?

I want to be that mom and can always beat my kids in a 100 meter dash! I want to show them that taking care of our bodies is important, fun and just part of what we do. My ultimate goal is to build and maintain muscle into my 40’s and beyond.


WHAT DOES CROSSFIT MEAN TO YOU?

It means everything…health, longevity, mental clarity, family and community.


WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TYPES OF WORKOUTS IN CROSSFIT?

I really love the gymnastics stuff like toes to bar and wall walks. They are hard so when you start to get them you feel so accomplished!


COACH JUST GAVE YOU THE CONTROL FOR SPOTIFY – WHAT'S YOUR WORKOUT SONG OF CHOICE?

I’m a county music girly. So any country music for the strength portion. Then for the Metcon, some 90’s rap. Think Notorious BIG and Tupac.

HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?

CrossFit has meant so much to us. Billy and I both are very goal oriented people and we find fulfillment in setting and achieving goals. CrossFit has allowed us to do that together, greatly strengthening our relationship. It also has been such an amazing way of relieving stress, allowing us to be more patient parents.

 

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JOINING CROSSFIT KAKOU?  

CrossFit can be intimidating when you first start. There is lots of jargon and it can be scary to speak up and ask questions. Luckily you walked into an amazing CrossFit gym. Kakou is a place where you can ask all the questions and feel comfortable not being judged. This goes for not just the coaches but all the members as well!
